About Us

Nurtured by Nature Kindergarten Ltd is a unique childcare facility located at 92 Laburnum Rd, Uddingston, Glasgow. The company was founded by the dedicated husband and wife team, Lisa and John. Lisa, with her extensive experience in the field of childcare, recognised the need for a more holistic and environmentally conscious approach to early childhood education. To equip herself with the knowledge and qualifications needed to bring her vision to life, she completed a Higher National Certificate (HNC) and a Master's degree in childcare. This educational background complements her practical experience and passion for providing exceptional childcare services.

What sets Nurtured by Nature apart from others in the area is its distinct focus on outdoor childcare. The kindergarten offers a range of unique services and features, including nature walks, time spent in the adjacent woods (weather permitting), and community walks. These activities play a vital role in helping children understand our planet, its ecosystem, and the importance of climate stability from a young age. Additionally, the kindergarten takes pride in its commitment to avoiding plastic toys, promoting a more eco-friendly and sustainable environment for children, which promotes health and wellbeing.

· Outdoor learning should be embedded within the curriculum and children should have outdoor space that offers depth and breadth to their learning.

· We believe that playing outside for prolonged periods allows children more freedom to explore and gain a practical understanding of the world around them, allowing them to reconnect with nature.

· Outdoor play also significantly enhances the development of their emotional intelligence e.g. self-confidence, resilience, problem solving, team work and
leadership skills that are essential to the well-rounded education that is vital for life beyond the classroom.

· Everyday life always involves a degree of risk and we feel that it is important that children learn how to cope with this. Children that do not have these opportunities will lack in problem solving skills and resolution. Young children who are sheltered from risk and challenge will not be able to make judgements
about their own capabilities.

Nursery Owner

Lisa Loughran

Allow us to introduce Lisa, the heart and soul behind Nurtured by Nature Kindergarten, serving as both the owner and head practitioner. With an impressive 14-year tenure in the childcare field, Lisa is a true visionary. Armed with a BA Hons in Childhood Studies and an MSc with merit in Education, her qualifications speak volumes about her dedication to early childhood development.

Lisa's journey through the childcare landscape has been diverse, ranging from childminding and private nurseries to local authority nurseries. She even ventured into a unique setting, the family center at Low Moss Prison, showcasing her commitment to children's well-being in various environments.

Her passion and dreams have led to the creation of Nurtured by Nature Kindergarten, a haven where children take center stage in their care and education. At our kindergarten, under Lisa's guidance, we explore the wonders of nature and the great outdoors, fostering a nurturing and enriching environment that inspires curiosity and growth in every child.

Nursery Manager

Nicole Kershaw

Meet Nicole our dedicated Nursery Manager. With a remarkable 11 years of experience in childcare, Nicole brings a wealth of expertise to our team. Holding a BA (Hons) in Education and Social Services, she is not only highly qualified but deeply committed to the well-being of the children under her care. Nicole's background encompasses various childcare settings, including nursery environments, outdoor summer camps, and children's residential care. Her specialization in handling complex additional support needs showcases her unwavering dedication to creating the safest and most nurturing space for every child in our care. With Nicole at the helm, you can rest assured that your child's development and safety are in excellent hands.

Early Years Practitioner

Kadee Fraser

Meet Kadee , our talented Early Years Practitioner. With a background in Musical Theatre, Kadee brings a creative and vibrant energy to our team. With nine years of experience in childcare settings, Kadee has honed their skills in providing top-notch care and education to young children. Their dedication to their profession is further showcased by their achievement of an SVQ Level 3 certification in Children and Young People. Kadee's passion for nurturing and supporting the development of children shines through in everything they do. Their expertise and enthusiasm make them an invaluable member of our team, contributing to the positive growth and well-being of the children in our care.

Graduate Apprentice

Lewis Meechan

Meet Lewis , our dedicated Graduate Apprentice with 2 years of experience in childcare settings. He excelled in a foundation apprenticeship placement focused on outdoor learning and play. Lewis holds an NSPCC certification in safeguarding, demonstrating his commitment to child protection & well-being. His experience and dedication make him a valuable asset to our team. He will be working towards his BA in childcare and education.
